Why We Invested in Eutelsat Group

European Sovereignty

Eutelsat is a key European strategic autonomy player in the satellite communications industry.

It leads the SpaceRISE consortium, which is at the forefront of the EU’s secure connectivity initiative, IRIS². This is €10.6 billion contract, and aims to bolster Europe’s secure satellite communication system.

The recent uncertainty regarding Starlink’s coverage over Ukraine, due to US negotiators pressing for mineral access, sent shockwaves through geopolitical spheres and led to capital flowing into European strategic autonomy players like Eutelsat.

Growing Market Position

Eutelsat’s merger with  OneWeb has positioned it with a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation that is considered a close like-for-like solution to Starlink. OneWeb has already launched over 600 satellites and is rolling out services to about 40 countries, expanding high-speed internet to underserved areas.
